Here is my newest design I designed a couple weeks ago. The overlapping and the contrast in line thickness is what makes this piece so unique. The ability to produce a design like this may take more time for some, but for me the ability and the advantage I have with certain programs made this art piece a slick and easy process. I really like the overall effect it has as an art piece geometrically. I learned how to make this design in seventh grade and till this day it has stuck with me and so I decided to make an unique formal design. It's one of my favorite designs to do when I'm bored and you can see this design throughout my art portfolio.

First College Project

This collage was my first college design. The objection was to make the collage flow throughout the piece, and I did just that. As a viewer ones eyes should go in a circular motion starting at the water shower and move left, down, right, and then back up. I like how its so colorful and it has such randomness to it but it all ties together into one design. This took some time, but I think that the final product turned out to be a success. I just love this art piece I have designed, This too was in my Art Show at Hills, and I got some great compliments with it too.

Modern Sculpture

What do all of these photos have in common? It's the same piece of art but at different angles! I love how I made this art piece look rather different in each photo I shot. This piece was in the Indian Hills Art Show, along with my other sculpture that was designed as if it were 7 feet. I was just messing around with the tin sheet of paper I had one day in class and I came up with this and I decided to turn it into a sculpting idea. I'm not sure if it would be stable but it does look like a cool design.

Flowers And Sculptures

The first two photos I have are my wire sculptures that I designed in my 3D class. We could make anything we wanted and my Grandma and I decided to make a flower and put it in a pot. It's pretty clever idea! The photos here are different in lighting and distance. I wanted to make sure that the object was seen far away and up close. It was hard getting the right lighting but once I messed around with the camera I think that the second one turned out a little better.

The third photo I have is my design of what I would make if I had to make a 7 foot sculpture. It's made out of tin, and bent up in a way that can hold its own weight. The square on top is an added feature that brings out more design qualities and gives it a more modern look. I think that if this was a 7 foot sculpture it would have been pretty neat! I like how the sculpture has a little shadow underneath in the picture, the photo seems more professional in a way.

5 Faves

The first picture we have up top is a perfect example of a black and white geometric collage. I had to cut out black and white art clippings and make the composition geometric. I think that the way it flows is really cool, and it has great contrast in black, white, and some grays. The main piece that sticks out to me in this collage is the Art, Beauty, The Sea, and Life, all those words tied together in this collage. This makes sense that Art is Beauty, just like Life and the Sea. It makes sense to me!
The second picture is an example of a design of white on black. We had to take some thumbnails of different designs of white on black and black on white designs. I choose this design for my white on black. I think they look like glasses and a mixture of a scissor design. I like how i designed the shape and how the lines are placed where they are. This piece could have been more complexed, but it works out being simple the way it is.
The third picture I have on display is one of my ultimate favorite pieces I have ever made. Can you tell what it is? If you don't know me personally you probably wouldn't get the design right away unless I tell you. Some people can get what it is right away and some have to wait until I tell them. Well these are my initials, SF. Our assignment was to incoperate our initials into an art piece. We had to have one side of the letters touching the border of the page like mine do. The F is intergrated with the S and it kind of looks like a sward or a T. This may look like an easy task, but I spent a few months on this project, it was not easy at first but once I got the feel for my assignment, it was a lot easier.
The fourth picture I have up is what I call "Spatter Rythem." Splatter Rythem is simply a design used with black paint and different tools to make different thin, thickness, and style out of different pencils, rulers, paper, etc.... I ended up using my finger for some areas, I used a pencil tip and drew with my eyes shut, and finally I also used different paint brush thin/thickness. This was more of a free assignment, I enjoyed how the overall piece turned out. I remember looking around in our classroom and some other groups had some wild designs! It was a creative, fun, and relaxing project.
The fifth picture I have up is "IHCC." I went to Indian Hills Community College, I decided to use these letters to make a design in remembrance of the college I attended. IHCC is just the repetitive form of IHCC and overlapping. I really think this design has a great balance of black and white and it was a rythem that just has an illusion of making the design keep going and going. To some it might be confusing, but once they get the idea of the IHCC letters they can begin to see them throughout the design.
